Writing and Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

The writing I do for clients is more than just a story; more than 600 words on a webpage that meet the deadline. I am an experienced marketing, communications, and development professional who can quickly gain an understanding of what’s important to your organization and bring that to life through interviews and research.

I treat our writing subjects, whether they are clients, alumni, students, or donors, as if I were a steward of your organization. I then craft compelling narratives which inspire action based on your goals.

My writing lands on many channels and serves a variety of purposes, depending on my client’s needs. We might aim to share inspiring stories on social media, create clickable headlines for newsletters or the web, or connect narratives back to development or enrollment.

Some of those channels and media include:

For a great deal of the content I’ve written in my career, I’ve also conducted SEO (search engine optimization). That includes keyword research, on-page SEO, SEO ranking strategy, internal link building, and website architecture management to support SEO.

Additional Projects to Consider

Writing is the building block of all the work we do in fundraising, enrollment, client services, and marketing. I often say it was Twitter that made me a better writer earlier in my career. Having to fit the heart of a message, and a call to action, within those original 140 characters helped me create action-packed, concise prose. That kind of writing is needed for social media management, as well as newsletters, multichannel marketing, and print / alumni magazines. If you would like to learn more about any of those projects, click the links above or contact me.

Next Steps

I would love to speak with you about writing or search engine optimization for your college, university or nonprofit! Please fill out this Contact Form.

I’ll respond as soon as possible, and we’ll arrange a meeting over Zoom. This 30-60 minute discovery call is entirely free, and the purpose is twofold: to articulate what the project is and determine whether we would like to work together. After the call, and if we would like to proceed, I’ll develop a proposal / scope of work, which outlines the project, budget, and timeline. If we’re on the same page then, I’ll send a contract.

Let’s start with just a little more info first. Complete the contact form here, and I look forward to hearing from you!
